Meet Kate

Welcome! I'm Dr Kate Diggory and my passion is working with and helping Carers to take care of themselves - those of you who are paid professionally to care such as Doctors, Nurses, therapists of all descriptions, social workers, teachers and those of you who provide unpaid physical and emotional care for your loved ones including partners, relatives, friends and neighbours.

I'm a mindfulness and self-compassion teacher, accredited counsellor (MBACP Accred.), supervisor and coach.  My experience working in the Hospice movement as a counsellor supporting adult patients and bereaved family members has prepared me well for the challenges involved in being a carer. My own experience caring for a father with terminal cancer and a mother with end stage heart failure and dementia brought home the reality of that role in a very real sense.

As well as running a community wide bereavement service for children, young people and their families, I have lead mindfulness and self-compassion groups for hospice palliative care patients, carers and staff.

I won’t bore you with my qualifications but if you want to check me out click here!

In my research at the University of Chester I researched a brief self-compassion training for carers of individuals with life limiting and terminal illness. You can find my latest publication Permission to be kind to myself here
