Kate is a mindfulness and self-compassion teacher, accredited counsellor (MBACP Accred.), supervisor and coach. She has worked for several years in the Hospice movement as a counsellor working with adult patients and bereaved family members as well as running a community wide bereavement service for children, young people and their families.
Kate has been a meditator for many years and has completed training for mindfulness-based teachers, Mindfulness in Individual Therapy and Specialist Teacher Training in Mindfulness based cognitive therapy for Cancer all with Bangor University. She has also undertaken Self-Compassion Core Skills Training with Christopher Germer & Kristin Neff and has trained as MIndful Self-Compassion teacher as well as completing a year long compassion training with the Mindfulness Association and training in Compassion Focused Therapy with Professor Paul Gilbert. She has trained with one of America’s leading career coaches and holds a PG Diploma and MSc in Counselling Psychology from Keele University.
Kate currently leads mindfulness and self-compassion groups for palliative care patients, carers and staff at a local hospice and is a PhD student at the University of Chester where she is researching a self-compassion training for carers of individuals with life limiting and terminal illness.
